    Description

Regulation US M1832 General & Staff Officer's Sword by F. W. Widmann. 30" blade, diamond shaped in cross section with narrow central fuller, etched for 2/3 its length with very delicate floral/scrollwork, arms and flag panoplies, and spread wing eagle with motto on both sides. Classic Widmann decorated brass scabbard. Two rings and frog stud on upper mount, single ring on middle mount with rudimentary drag. Decorated between the two upper mounts with intricate vines of oak leaves surrounding a 1" high US composed of vines of leaves and berries. Vines of acanthus leaves above and below a US shield with engraved stars decorate an 11 1/2" area between the middle mount and drag. Scabbard excellent retaining most of the original gilt, with just a couple of very minor shallow dents on the lower section along with a number of tiny nicks on the lower third of the scabbard on both sides, minor. Attached to the sword is a brass tag from the "Clarence Frederick Runtsch Collection" which is engraved "Sword By Frederick William Widmann 1789 - 1848". An extremely scarce and desirable American regulation sword.
