    Rare Cased Maynard Rifle With 2 Barrels Metal mostly smooth and gray with scattered traces of blue, with frame markings "Maynard Arms Co Washington" and "Manufactured By Mass. Arms Co. Chicopee Falls". Tight crisp action, folding tang sight. Walnut stock excellent with a few minor dents has been lightly cleaned. Iron patchbox stamped "Maynard Patentee. Sept 22 1845, May 27 1851 June 17 1856". Barrel #2009 .36 caliber, 26" smooth and brown with traces of blue on the flats. Excellent bore, two leaf rear sight. German silver front sight. Barrel #2952 .56 caliber smoothbore, 26" smooth and brown with excellent bore. German silver front sight. Walnut case fitted for stock 2 barrels and accessories. Case measures 10 5/8" wide, 28" long and 2 1/2" high, top shows a number of cracks and a 1/2" x 4" chip at one of the hinges - piece of wood and screws are present, brass keyhole escutcheon, 2 brass latches. Interior with original red velvet lining , some components are loose - easily repaired, cloth is excellent. Interior includes an original .36 caliber bullet mold with Maynard markings in very good condition with gray smooth metal and a few minor nicks, 5 brass cases, 3 for the rifle, 2 for the smoothbore and 27 old .36 caliber bullets. A very rare cased set with the casing certainly worthy of careful restoration.
