Very Rare U.S. M1812 .69 Caliber Smoothbore Flintlock Musket by John Joseph Henry of Philadelphia. Gun remains in its original untouched, unaltered, original flintlock configuration. All metal generally smooth and dark, just some light to medium pitting in the area of the breech, touch hole and the center of the lock, as well as some very light pitting on the butt plate and trigger guard bow. The front sling swivel and stud were removed, obviously long ago, else the gun is complete and original in every respect. mechanically fine, very good bore. Crisp P over US on the breech with letter F above and perpendicular to the P. Stock, with recessed cheek piece, excellent, with dark smooth patina, a couple of small old chips/ slivers along the forestock, minor, and an old chip above the tail of the lock, and some scattered dents, detracting little. Lock, with rear teat projection, marked on the tail, Phila over US. Although difficult to discern the name Henry can be seen in the lower center of the lockplate. A very nice, totally correct example, of this very rare U.S. martial flintlock.
