US M1819 Hall Flintlock Rifle. Very fine overall condition. Metal retains 50% of the original acid brown, the balance smooth and dark, very nice. Second production type dated 1832. Breech bears the US and date but J. H. Hall marks are worn off. Mechanically fine, perfect bore. The top jaw and jaw screw are period replacements, else complete and original in every respect. Wood is about perfect with just a couple of minor dents and an old, very light, coat of varnish. Very nice example of this innovative US military longarm, the first breechloading arm issued in quantity to US forces.
