    Description

U.S. M1819 Hall .54 Caliber Original Flintlock Breech Loading Rifle, Second Type, J. H. Hall/ H. Ferry/ US/ 1826. Very nice untouched example of this innovative and important American military longarm. All metal smooth and light gray with traces of case colors, absolutely no rust or pitting, very nice, just a few scattered dings near the bands, minor. Mechanically perfect, excellent bore. The ramrod is an old replacement, else the gun is complete and original in every respect. Wood also excellent with nice smooth patina, just one narrow 4" sliver along the side of the ramrod channel, and the ubiquitous hairlines just behind the breech block, minor. Very nice example of this seminal American military longarm.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
