    Description

US M1816/22 .69 Caliber Smoothbore Flintlock Musket, H. Osborne Original flintlock configuration, with metal generally smooth with areas of dried grease and salt and pepper pitting. Breech nicely marked with correct proofs, and lock plate marked with eagle head / heart proof and "Springfield". Stock has been carved to form a cheek piece on the obverse the center inlayed with a bone quarter moon and the wrist inlayed with a bone heart. Save for those old alterations, the stock is in fine condition with sharp edges and a few scattered minor dents. Stock is stamped, behind the trigger guard, "H. Osborne Springfield". Good, original flintlock, representative example, of this relatively scarce contract with actual production figures being unknown.
