Pair of Cased British Percussion Belt Pistols with Snap Bayonets C. 1845. Guns 9" overall with 4" 50 caliber smoothbore octagonal barrels marked "Labron" on the top flat, with British proofs on the underside of the barrel and breech. All metal smooth and gray. Decorative engraving at muzzle, breech, trigger, hammers and on both sides of the frame. Folding trigger, engraved sliding safeties. The 3" snap bayonets are held in place against the frame with a thumbpiece configured and engraved as an animal's head. Both guns mechanically fine, one nipple broken. Finely checkered bag shape grip with oval silver wrist escutcheon. The guns are housed in an English oak case with circular brass escutcheon on the lid and, although they fit fine, we are of the opinion they are not indigenous to this case, and the casing was fabricated later to house the guns. Nice little pair of guns exhibiting a number of unusual details.
