    Model 1860 Field and Staff Officers Sword & Belt / Circa 1835 Eagle-Head Officer's Sword by Horstmann Model 1860 Field & Staff Officer's sword in near mint condition. Straight blade etched "Major M. Wendell Tilton M.H.S. Cadets" on the obverse and "Presented by Caleb A. Page 1915" on the reverse. Gold wash background showing minor wear. Cast German-silver handle with twisted wire wrap, eagle and stand of arms folding guards and hilt are excellent showing wear to the gilt finish only. Grip exhibits a gold tape and bullion knot also excellent. Nickel steel scabbard with decoratively cast brass fittings shows no wear. Accompanying the sword is its original full dress officer's belt with cast brass eagle buckle, excellent condition showing minor wear only.
    Circa 1835. 29 1/2" straight blade decorated with engraved scroll and panoply of arms motifs, blued for 1/3 its length . Blade generally smooth and bright with a few areas of minor roughness, excellent. All brass hilt with cast classical decoration, counterguard with American eagle and shield. Carved bone grips with two small chips, triple wire wrap. Engraved and stamp decorated brass scabbard with two carrying rings and shield shaped frog stud excellent. Just a couple of minor shallow dents. Scabbard obverse stamped "Horstmann".
