    Mexican War Veteran's Medal/Shield Inscribed on the Verso "George C. Miles/6th Texas Cav." George C. Miles served in Henry B. Stout's Mounted Gunmen prior to the Mexican War, July 15 to October 15, 1841. The unit participated in Republic of Texas Militia Brigadier General Edward Tarrant's expedition against the Indians along the Trinity River July 5 to August 11, 1841. Measuring 2" x 2.25", the lower portion of the medal exhibits elaborate detail including a wreath encircling "Mexico" and the date "1846". On the border of the medal are listed Mexican War battles. Bar with safety pin type back. A beautiful piece. Fine.
