    A most rare button.

Group of Nine Non-Dug Moultrie Guards Buttons with Period ID. A remarkable find, consigned by direct lineal descendants. Nine coat size Moultrie Guards buttons (Albert SC32A) all retaining at least 90% original gilt. All with W. H. Jones & Co. Superfine rmdc backmark. All mounted on a card with the following period ink script ID paper label attached: "Buttons from a Moultrie Guard uniform worn in the Mexican War by Thos. P. Smith of Charleston, S. C." A most rare button with only a few non-dug examples known to exist, along with a handful of dug specimens, prior to this discovery. A once in a lifetime opportunity.
