    Description

    Fine Condition Bird Head Pommel American Infantry Officer's Saber, Circa 1830. 31" curved blade decorated for nearly half its length with engraved gilt motifs on fire blue background which terminates in scroll work. Obverse with scroll work and arms panoply including American shield and liberty cap. Reverse with scroll work and arms panoply. Retains 90% of the original gilt and fire blue. The undecorated portion of the blade excellent with much of the original luster and just some minor dark staining. Heavy reverse P-guard hilt with undecorated langets, disc shaped quillon and sword knot slot, retains 20% of the original silver. Carved bone grip, with ferrule at the base, with one age crack with no loss on the obverse, not affecting soundness, and nice patina.

    Another attractive American officer's saber from the 1825 - 1835 period.
