    Description

    C. 1810 English Flintlock Dueling Pistol. 9 3/8" octagonal .52 caliber smoothbore barrel. 1" across the flats and marked London on the top flat. Barrel generally smooth and dark retaining 70% of the original decorative striped finish. The gun is in its original flintlock configuration. The barrel incorporates a v-notch rear sight at the breech and a brass bead front sight. Very nicely engraved at the breech and the barrel tang. Lock with roller frizzen and sliding safety engraved Smith & Walker. Mechanically the gun will not hold in the safety or cocked position, apparently the result of a weak sear spring, easily repaired. All iron furniture with nicely engraved pineapple finial trigger guard. Silver wedge escutcheon. English walnut half stock with finely checkered grip. Forestock missing a small sliver on each side at top, with some worm damage to the horn forend tip. The gun is overall untouched. Wooden ramrod with brass tip appears to be an old replacement. Overall a nice quality gun just requiring a bit of 'tuning up'.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
