    American Eaglehead Artillery Officer's Sword C. 1835 With Magnificent Blade 30 1/2" straight blade decorated for two third its length with fire blue and gilt along with two white etched panels on each side. Decoration includes scroll work panoplies of arms, liberty cap and eagle perched on large shield. Blade retains 90% original brilliant fire blue and gilt, the white panels bright with original luster, remainder of the blade bright with just some very minor staining, no rust or nicks. Rare form counterguard with spread wing eagle and shield grasping laurel leaves and arrows, 17 stars above, with the underlying theme of crossed cannons. Terminates in wide shell quillon. Knucklebow cast with deep relief decoration the center featuring a lions head motif, closed mouth eagle head pommel with well defined feathers, mother of pearl plaque grips perfect, 3/8" ferrule at base with shell motif. Brass scabbard with traces of silver wash engraved on one side with spread wing eagle, scrolls at the ring mounts and drag. Bottom 8" of scabbard with a few notreworthy dents but no cracks or breaks and easily removed by a competent restorer. Very nice example of classic American sword with stunning blade.
