Pierre G. T. Beauregard: War-dated Letter and Endorsement Signed. 7.5" x 9" letter, written on both sides of a single sheet, Fairfax County Court House, Virginia, September 27, 1861, from General Beauregard to General Milledge Bonham. The first page of the letter, written by a clerk and not signed by Beauregard, advises Bonham not to occupy Lewisville, but position his troops near the old court house, pending receipt of orders. Beauregard has penned a postscript on the back side, signing it "G.T.B.". In full: "P.S. Since writing the above your orders have arrived & you will act accordingly, resuming with the balance of your brigade your former position at or about Flat Hill. Gen. Jones will return to Germantown." Docketed below. Matted and framed with a period book plate portrait of Beauregard. A specially cut window on verso permits viewing of the front of the letter. From the collection of Dr. Michael Krane.
