    Description

Pennsylvania Full Stock F/L Rifle by Famed Lancaster County Maker Jacob Haeffer C. 1810. 41" .52 caliber octagonal smoothbore barrel. Generally smooth and dark, just some minor pitting in the breech area. The gun is an expertly executed reconversion to flint and is virtually undetectable. Signed on the top flat of the barrel in block letters "J. Haeffer". Typical cast "eare"' Lancaster Co. sideplate, the patchbox with daisy finial is about identical to No. 26 on Kindig's book, with engraved decoration. 2" brass toe plate, the patchbox release is on the butt plate tang. Brass furniture all about perfect with nice light patina. The gun is overall quite slender. The plain maple stock is excellent, while exhibiting a charming and beautifully executed period repair to the wrist, with ovoid 3 3/8" brass plates inlaid and affixed with four iron pins. Absolutely period and really detracts nothing from the rifle. Stock fastened with three wedges, the nose cap with two iron pins, incised line forestock molding. The gun retains what appears to be the original ramrod. A very nice example of Haeffer's work, in the form of an exceptionally slender and graceful rifle.
