Pair of 19th Century Swords Made by P. Knecht of Solingen Germany. These rather ornate swords are of identical construction and style and feature large basket hilts with pierced floral designs. The grips are rayskin with wire wraps. The bright, slightly curved 34" clipped-point blades are etched with floral and military designs near the hilt. The designs retain about 75% of the original gilt highlighting. Each sword is marked with the German quality mark of "Eisenhauer" on the blade near the hilt. One example has two stars and a crescent and writing indicating some association with central Asia perhaps. Other than a light coating of surface rust on the blades, both swords are in excellent condition.
