    Description

Original Paper Wrapped Package of Twelve C. 1850 Militia Waist Belt Plates Identical to FIG 225 in Kerksis. Twelve plates packed in four layers of three plates each. Three plates on the top that have been exposed from the package being opened show staining/tarnish/surface rust, while in the bottom three layers the plates are mint. Contrary to Kerksis' description of the plates being fabricated of brass, the plates are actually fabricated of heavily gilded sheet iron. Wrapped in typical mid 19th century brown tissue like paper. A most unusual offering.
