One of the Nicest Identified Civil War Lookout Mountain Views We've Ever Catalogued Quarter plate tintype, superb quality and about perfect condition, depicts a soldier wearing four button blouse and holding forage cap, seated on Lookout Mountain. Nice period pencil ID in the case behind the image "M. W. Ingle on Lookout Mountain Aged 22 4th July 1864". Marcus W. Ingle enlisted as a private in the 133rd Indiana Vol. Inf. on May 17, 1864, and mustered out September 5, 1864. Ingle's records, which are included, list him as having previous service in the 55th Indiana in 1862, and list his duties with the 133rd as "clerk in bakery," obviously giving him time for a side trip to Lookout Mountain. Choice example of this iconic Civil War image that rarely surfaces identified.
