    Mexican War Veteran's Medal/ Shield Inscribed on the Verso to "Ezra N. De Pew/ 1st Drag." The first regular army example we've ever catalogued, De Pew enlisted in the 1st U.S. Dragoons June 27, 1844, was discharged June 27, 1849, and was engaged at the capture of Santa Fe (N. M. ), San Rosalia, and Chihuahua. De Pew subsequently enlisted in the 49th Ohio Inf. on Aug. 20, 1861, and mustered out November 30, 1865, serving much of that time as an orderly on General Staff. He also had service in the 5th and 6th U.S. Cavalry after the war. Medal in perfect untouched condition accompanied by an original ribbon and a complete set of records.
