    Large Archive of Material Including Images, Documents and References Related to the 33rd Illinois Volunteer Infantry.
    Includes: 1.) Sixth plate tintype of Private Alonzo Bradley Chatfield, Co. B, 33rd Illinois Volunteer Infantry, seated in uniform. Chatfield enlisted on August 20, 1861. He was severely wounded at the battle of Big Black River Bridge (Mississippi) on May 17, 1863 and subsequently discharged for wounds in September. 2.) 1/9 plate tintype of Private George W. Foxworthy, Co. K, 33rd Illinois Volunteer Infantry posed seated in uniform. 3.) Many documents including discharge documents, payment vouchers, and GAR applications for men of the 33rd Ill. Each document comes with some cursory research the consigner did on the individual soldier named in each document. 4.) History of the Thirty-Third Illinois Veteran Volunteer Infantry in the Civil War by General Isaac H. Elliott. Published in Gibson City, Illinois in 1902 and published by the regiment's association. 288 pages. Illustrated. 5.) Typewritten article "Fifteen Minutes to Live Company E, 33rd Illinois Infantry in the Assault on Vicksburg" by Richard K. Tibbals and Randy Beck, 1984. 7 pages printed on the recto side only.

    Condition: 1.) Good. The emulsion has "haloed" around Chatfield's image, but his portrait is generally unaffected. The case is well worn and has detached and been repaired with tape. 2.) Very good. The case is well worn and the lid held by tape. 3.) All documents are in generally very good condition. 4.) Good. Spine has been replaced; damp staining to boards; binding shaken. 5.) Very good.
