    Jefferson Davis: Coin Silver Child's Cup Presented by Jefferson Davis to His Daughter, Margaret "Maggie" Howell Davis on the Occasion of Her First Birthday. The cup has a scrolling handle and an engine turned body. The front of the cup is beautifully engraved with a riband with ivy leaf embellishments. The riband is inscribed with "Maggie H. Davis / From her Father / Feb. 25th 1856". Margaret "Maggie" Howell Davis, born on February 25, 1855, was the second child born to Jefferson Davis and his second wife Varina Howell. Margaret was the only Davis child to marry and raise a family. This and the other Davis family silver pieces were obtained directly from lineal descendants of Jefferson Davis and Varina Howell Davis. The silver cup is 2.5 inches high and 2.25 inches in diameter. It is stamped on the bottom with "Durand /2" above an indistinct mark.
