Description
U.S. Treasury Department Notice of Payment to the Widow of Indian Home Guard, July 29, 1889, Washington, D.C., one page, 8" x 10.5". In this party printed notice from J. N. Patterson, U.S. Auditor, to Millie Wewoka of the Indian Territory, $278.88 is guaranteed to her due to the death of her soldier husband, Oke-chum-wa, of the Indian Home Guards. The notice reads (in part): "The Commissioner of Indian Affairs will send you a check for the above amount. Please sign and return the enclosed receipts." Signed "J. N. Patterson". Very good condition with some wear along original folds, printed portion faded, and some toning.Auction Info
