    US Springfield Model 1868 .50 Caliber Breech Loading Rifle. Breech block dated "1869", lockplate "U.S. Springfield" / Eagle with "1863" date behind the hammer. Metal is bright with areas of dark staining on the breech block, at the rear sight and at the muzzle. Bright sharp bore, crisp tight action, hammer with 50% case colors. Breech is numbered 919, barrel number partially legible with the number 19 evident. While the stock has sharp edges around the lock and reverse there is a repair at the bottom of the butt stock measuring 1 1/2" X 6" with the stock exhibiting sanding at the butt.
