    Description

US M1873 .45-70 Rifle, #152157. Very fine example, retaining 90% of the original blue mixing with smooth brown patina. 20% case colors on exterior of breech, with 100% case colors on underside of door. Excellent markings, mechanically perfect, mint bore. At some point a tang/peep sight was added at the wrist, with the front sight blade being replaced to correspond, very nicely done. The original buckhorn rear sight, with mounting screws, along with the original front sight blade, are included in the small pouch attached to the front swivel. Wood really excellent with nice rich patina and crisp inspectors' marks including date 1881. Wood with just some old scattered dents and a few minor scratches. A very nice M1873 rifle.
