    Description

Superb Condition Colt SAA Revolver #199799, Mfg. 1900. 7 1/2" barrel, 45 caliber. The gun retains 90% of the original bright blue and 60% of the case colors, mixing/fading with smooth even gray. Crisp markings, mint bore. The gun cocks and indexes but does not lock, easily repaired. There is no number on the exterior of the grip strap but the, apparent, assembly number 861B is visible at two places under the grips. Hard rubber grips perfect. The accompanying factory letter states the gun was shipped Sept. 1, 1900 to Montgomery War & Co. in Chicago, Ill. .45 Colt, 7 1/2" barrel, blue finish, stocks not listed, with this being the only gun in the shipment. A beautiful SAA in very desirable configuration.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
