Description
Near Mint U.S. M1884 .45-70 Rifle with the Original Bayonet and Scabbard, #493333. Really an exceptional example, with crisp stock cartouche placing the date of manufacture at 1890. Gun retains 95% of the original bright blue with just one small "streak" of loss on the barrel just forward of the receiver. Gun also retains 99% of the original bright case colors. Wood near perfect with just a few minor dents and an old thin coat of varnish. mechanically perfect, mint bore. Bayonet and scabbard also about mint, the frog with U.S. rosette and marked Rock Island Arsenal 1903. The leather sling is excellent but possibly a bit later. Very nice gun.Auction Info
