    Description

Native Americans: Dramatic Battle Scene Ledger Drawing. 14.75" x 12" [sight] color drawing of an intense battle between Native Americans and horse soldiers. The Native Americans are prevailing, using both rifles and bows & arrows. A supply wagon has caught fire, a horse has taken two arrows and five soldiers have received multiple, fatal wounds. Not signed. Likely Sioux or Cheyenne. Given the casualty rate and course of battle, it no doubt seeks to commemorate one of the few massacres suffered by Federal troops, either the Battle of Rosebud Creek or, more likely, the Battle of Little Bighorn. Matted and framed to an overall size of 23.5" x 20.5". Light horizontal fold, as made. Excellent overall.
