    Model 1881 US Army White Helmet & Black Mourning Cover Model 1881 US Army white pith helmet along with a black mourning cover for a Model 1881 spike helmet. Standard enlisted helmet for use in warm climates , in use from 1881 - 1902. White canvas covered cork body in excellent condition, interior with leather sweatband and partial green cotton lining also in excellent condition. Front has a few small holes having at one point a front plate added. Included is a rare black pressed fur / felt mourning cover in excellent condition, which fits perfectly over a 1881 helmet.
