Description

Model 1872 Cavalry Dress Helmet. Partially restored. The rear bill of this helmet has the distinctive "lobster tail" shape of those manufactured by Bent & Bush of Boston. There is no sweat band, and the cord is worn and frayed. The regimental insignia is missing, but the crossed-sabers side buttons are intact. There are obvious repairs to rear and side. The helmet is otherwise complete.
From the Glenwood Swanson Collection.
