Description
Military-Style Five Button Coat with Kepi Cap. Circa turn of the century. Coat is standard military pattern blue cloth with a mixture of Horstmann backmarked buttons. Lining is green polished cotton. At a particular point in time, a white cloth number 1 was affixed to each ear of the collar. Subsequently, these numbers were re-covered with an additional piece of blue cloth. Stamped on the inside of the right coat sleeve at the shoulder is "Property of EAVES Costume Co. N.Y., N.Y." This U.S. or militia coat was apparently sold to said costume company after the style went out of regulation. Kepi style cap is in relatively good condition on the exterior. The lining is missing from the interior. Sweat band is separated about half way around. Chin strap is replaced. Two state buttons secure the chin strap to the hat body. Short tarred visor is sound.Auction Info
