    Description

    Lot of Ten Fort D. A. Russell, Wyoming Territory Items, ca. 1860s. This lot has two letters, first one, "Office of depot Quartermaster, Fort D. A. Russell, W. T. Aug 25 68. Frank Creager Wagon master. Sir: You will proceed at once in charge of thirteen six mule teams to Fort Steel Wyoming Territory and report to the acting assistant quartermaster of the Fort for duty. You are rationed to the 10th of September inclusive and your animals are foraged to the 3rd of September inclusive. E. B. Carling Bvt. Lt. Col. AAQM." Second letter, "Depot quartermaster office Cheyenne, W.T. Novb 18th 1867, Frank Creager Wagon master. You will proceed at once with your train to camp 30th Inf. and ____ lieut. Sloan 4th Inf. to transport recruits to Fort Laramie, W. T. On arrival there you will report to Bvt. Brig. Gen. J. N. Palmer 2nd Cav. to load and haul telegraph poles and material from the Julesburg road to the Chugwater. Apply to the post quartermaster for what you need in way of rope and chain to bind the poles, and anything else you may need. On completion of the service, you will report back here. Respectfully E. B. Carling Bvt. Lt. Col. AAQM." Last item, Fort D. A. Russell Wyoming Territory officers dance. Lot of eight items- six U. S. Army officers calling cards, including cavalry officer, & H. DeLany, noted Sioux Scout commander, also two dance card invitations "Compliments of officers & ladies of Fort D. A. Russell. One dated 1880. Nice group. Letters measure approximately 7.75" x 10".

    Condition:
    Very good-fine, one letter has burn hole.
