    Description

Lot of 19th Century Military Leather Equipment. Including: 1) US regulation issue Indian Wars period carbine boot for use with the .45-70 and subsequently Krag carbine. Marked "Rock Island Arsenal". The leather has been treated with some type of preservative but remains a bit stiff; the stitching that runs along the back is compromised at both ends, the straps cracked and worn but overall a good example of this desirable Indian Wars period piece of cavalry equipment. 2) Pair of leather frogs, both unmarked. One in very good condition; the other with some surface mildew. 3) White buff sling measuring about 41" in length. Excellent condition.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
