Description

Indian Wars Period U.S. Army Officer's Five Button Vest. A nice example of a vest from the post-Civil War U.S. army. The vest is single-needle tailored and constructed of a blue wool front with shawl collars, three slit pockets - two on the left, one on the right, and five 11mm eagle buttons marked "Horstmann Bros & Co./Phila." for closure. The vest is fully lined with a white smooth cotton material. The back panel is made of a black smooth cotton and the vest still retains the adjustment cloth belt and metal buckle. There is one interior slit pocket on the front right side. The vest is in very good condition with moderate mothing to the blue wool front.
