Indian Wars Era: An Interesting Group Lot. Consists of: (1) Mammoth Department of the Interior Geological Survey photo of an Indian brave with medicine pipe. Measures 12.5" x 15" in original mount. Photo is excellent; mount has light soiling and a couple minor partial creases; (2) Two-page handwritten letter from Gen. Nelson Miles to Col. W. H. Graham at the War Department; (3) 1895 Miles TLS to retired Civil war general Oliver Edwards, thanking him for offering to return to active duty if he could be of service; and (4) Two-page 1901 longhand letter by 7th Cavalry Major W.S. Edgerly written from Cuba during the post-Spanish American War occupation. Edgerly was a lieutenant with Benteen at Little Big Horn and later became controversial for his comments regarding the battle.
