Group of Four Nineteenth Century American Accoutrement/ Belt Plates. Includes: (1) M1826 cartridge box breast plate. 62mm, die stamped MS on the lower rim of the face indicating its issuance to Massachusetts state troops during the Civil War. Missing one of the iron wire loops on reverse, else perfect untouched/uncleaned condition. (2) 50mm x 69mm circa 1880 Virginia officers' waist belt plate. The face of the plate identical to Civil War period specimens but with the belt loop attached to the reverse and a 42 mm wide tongue. Perfect condition and complete with the original keeper. (3) Circa 1880, 58mm x 72mm rectangular waist belt plate ascribed to Pennsylvania Military College. This is the exact plate illustrated in Plate 884 in American Military Belt Plates by O'Donnell and Campbell. Perfect condition. (4) Circa 1895 U.S. naval officers' waist belt plate, silvered brass. While somewhat diminutive this plate is exquisitely made with the tongue/wreath portion cast as one piece rather than having a separately applied device. Crack on the left side belt loop else about perfect. Nice group. Prov. Flayderman Collection
