    Description

George A. Custer: Rare Early Cigar Box. 12.125" x 4.75" x 3" cigar box that originally housed the "Custer Cigar", an "A No.1 5- Cent Cigar" manufactured by the F. M. Kendrick Company. Woodcut illustration of Custer on the inside lid and one end label. The top is stamped "Custer" with a star and crossed cavalry swords. Lateral split to front panel. Two lateral splits to lid, with old repair. The lid was detached at one time, but reattached using gummed paper. Shows good character and age. Likely issued sometime in the early 1880s. We've never seen another one!
