    Description

Custer and His Officers at Fort Abraham Lincoln: An Original Sketch by 2nd Lieutenant George D. Wallace. This photo of Custer with his men and their wives is among the most famous of his images (a second generation copy mounted as a cabinet card, accompanies the lot). Wallace, who fought at Little Big Horn under Reno, undertook to do a fine pen and ink sketch of the image, above which in Wallace's hand are identifications of everyone depicted, including himself, Custer and Libby, Yates, Tom Custer, and Calhoun along with seventeen others. Wallace left detailed recollections of Little Big Horn in his journals and letters, which were published in 2003 as Letters from the Field, Wallace at the Little Big Horn by Douglas Paul Westfall. The sketch measures 9.5" x 7.75", and is in excellent condition.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
