    Description

Colorful Gold-Trimmed Chasseur Cap of Famed Massachusetts Unit. Bright red body above a medium blue band, trimmed with ¼" wide gold bullion tape around the top and bottom, up the sides and into a singular multi-looped sunburst design on top. On the front is affixed a gold bullion wreath in which are the Old English initials "IBF," standing for "Independent Boston Fusiliers," an historic Massachusetts militia organization first organized in 1787. The short, bound visor is in place but the chin strap and sidebuttons are absent. A cloth loop has been sewn to the inside to facilitate hanging. The interior has the full leather sweatband and polished cotton lining, both showing significant wear. A thick leather stiffener with glazed surface is in the crown and there is no maker's marking. The exterior has some minor staining and negligible moth nips and one small length of gold tape needs to be resewn.
