Ames Last Year Enlisted Man's Light Cavalry Saber, Indian Wars Period, ca. 1870s-1880s.
Nice Wild West-era Indian Wars single edge enlisted man's Cavalry saber, the same sabers used by Custer's men. Manufactured by Ames, dated 1865 (last year), stamped "U. S. & J. F." Great large brass guard, and a bass pommel cap. Has complete leather washer. Also a leather grip with twisted wire that is complete, no breaks. Blade measures approximately 1 1/16" wide.

Blade has very, very light staining, guard is slightly bent, overall nice example.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
