    Description

1877 7th Cavalry Supply Orders from the Yellowstone Command. In 1877, the 7th was still seeking to track down bands of participants in the Little Big Horn massacre. One orders 14,000 rations for the troopers, as well as luxury items such as canned roast beef, eggs, and pickles "for sales to officers."

The more important framed document orders 12,000 rations to be shipped "by the first boat going to the valley of the Big Horn ... the following named stores to be supplied to the Crow Allies under command of Lieut. Doune." The Crow were blood enemies of the Sioux, and had provided most of the scouts who accompanied Custer on the Little Big Horn Campaign. Some water staining on both but very good condition overall.
