As honest and untouched an example of a Henry rifle as you could find.

Henry .44 Cal. RF Repeating Rifle with Provenance to Co. B, 3rd US Veteran Volunteer Inf., 1865 #7603, Mfg. 1864. The gun is overall absolutely untouched "attic" condition. All metal smooth and dark, just a few tiny spots of light surface rust. Markings, mechanism, bore all fine. The sling swivels were removed, obviously long ago, with the oval aperture in the buttstock filled with a neat walnut patch. There is also a silver three cent piece, with two edges clipped, inlaid in the right side of the butt stock. Wood really excellent with dark untouched patina and just some minor handling marks commensurate with light use. There are no visible inspector's marks on the metal or the wood. The cleaning rod door in the butt plate is an old replacement, else the gun is complete and original in every respect, and probably hasn't been touched by a screw driver since the Civil War. The ID to the 3rd Inf. was supplied by Springfield Research service with accompanying letter. The regiment was stationed in the defenses of Washington and Headquarters Army of the Potomac during 1865, the period during which the rifle would have been issued to them. Absolutely as honest and untouched an example of a Henry rifle as you could find, and especially desirable with US military issuance.
