    Group of C. 1860 Medical Instruments Associated with Skull/Brain Surgery. Group includes the following: Skull trephine with ivory handle with nice age patina, 4 1/4" with 3/4" diameter saw. Brass post with knurled brass screw on blued steel plate to adjust the center pin; a rather intricate skull trephine with checkered ebony handle, 5 7/8" overall with 3/4" diameter saw. Steel post with brass socket with saw on a steel post that allows the depth of the saw/center pin to be adjusted with a thumb screw, and a shield that can be moved down over the saw, also with a thumb screw. Perfect condition and marked H M 63 on the face of the handle; a horn handled bone brush; two variations of Hey saws, the smaller unmarked with an ebony grip and the classic form with gutta percha plaque grips with W & H Hutchinson / Sheffield moulded into one side. Both perfect condition; two lenticulars with bulbous rosewood handles, probably C. 1840 and both in fine condition; a perforator also C. 1840, with bulbous rosewood handle marked Arnold & Sons on the shaft in fine condition and a perforator with checkered ebony handle and three attachments that are interchangeable with a thumb screw for tightening also perfect condition. Great group including several very scarce instruments.
