    Description

Great ID'd War of 1812 Grouping. The group includes the following: Old pasteboard card bearing the ink printed provenance, "Scarf Worn By Capt. Peck 1812". The reference to a scarf is obviously the 4 3/4" wide heavy woven red wool sash. 13" long tassels with each strand tied in a knot at the end. 8" 2" long excluding tassels in really excellent condition with just a few small holes obviously the result of honest wear and use.; a set of gold bullion shoulder epaulettes. 6" overall with 2 1/2" gold bullion tape boards with light padding and yellow silk on the undersides. Each epaulette with "Capt. Thomas" in neat ink script on the silk pad, obviously period. Typical early form with minimal adornment and the ends and just a single row of gold bullion tassels. Overall excellent sound condition.; A superb condition War of 1812 period officer's sword belt. Red Moroccan leather, 2" wide, with soft brown leather 1 1/2" wide tab inside for adjusting the buckle and unusual 7/16" wide sword slings. Original over the shoulder sling with small iron adjusting buckle. Leather overall in about perfect supple condition. The 2 1/2" X 2 5/8" die stamped brass plate is of exceptional quality and retains much of the original silver wash. A classic form that saw extensive use during the War of 1812 by both Regular Establishment and militia officers. Really an exceptional War of 1812 period grouping.
