    Description

    Great Confederate Cedar Wood Canteen From Antietam. 7 1/8" diameter, 2 1/4" thick. Riveted iron hoops and three tin sling loops. The face of the canteen , on both sides, exhibits a slightly domed surface on both faces. The initials "JTS" and "LI" are carved on the obverse face near the top. The reverse side features the easily read period ink inscription "Confederate Canteen Antietam Sept 17th 1862". Made without provisions for a spout. Canteen is in excellent untouched condition, with deep patina, just a few minor scratches, and age hairline with no loss. Accompanying the canteen is a card which reads "Confederate Canteen from Antietam Sept 17 1862 Presented to N.F.B. by Etta & Frank Crowther Cherry Hill Sept 1952" . Canteen is in excellent condition, with deep patina, just a few minor scratches. Nice untouched Confederate canteen with great history.
