Great Civil War 34/5 Star Flag. 51" on the hoist and 85" on the fly constructed entirely of wool bunting with the exception of the white cotton stars and entirely hand stitched. Thirty four 3.5" white cotton stars arranged in an almost random pattern with a 7" star in the center of the 27" X 32" canton which is double sided. Traditionally the large star is representative of the newly admitted state which in this case would have been West Virginia in 1863. 1/3/4" white canvas hoist with seven hand whipped grommets with the original gold bullion cord ties still attached. Overall excellent sound condition with just a few scattered worn spots, clearly the result of heavy honest use. Exceptionally nice Civil War period American flag in a desirable size that likely saw military use.
