Great American Screw Tip Powder Horn C. 1825. Possibly Pennsylvania but we believe more likely New York or New England. Extremely large size, 16 1/2" tip to tip and 18" along the curve. Turned maple base plug with a screw out, turned, dark wood filler plug. Base plug held in place with five tiny square cut pegs. Horn with great curve and fits snugly against the body. Nice mellow color with no chips, cracks or wormholes. The 4 7/8" long, elaborately turned, dark horn tip, with just a few tiny chips, no cracks or other noteworthy damage. The threads were shimmed, obviously long ago, with tape to tighten the tip, easily removed, and very common with these early screw tip horns, the result of simple honest wear and use. The horn is completely untouched/uncleaned and really one of the finer examples we've ever seen. A great American powder horn in superb condition.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
