General Robert E. Lee Funeral Relics: Black-bordered silk handkerchief, and hand-painted jewelry with confederate battle flag motifs from the 1870 service. A large brooch and matching ear rings of gold-colored metal, each inset with a reverse-on-glass miniature of the confederate battle flag, along with a small black colored scarf. Sewn into the scarf is a clearly contemporary note, folded but readable: "Pin, ear bobs, scarf from the funeral of Gen. Robert E. Lee, Oct. 13, 1870." On reverse of the card is a poignant quote: "Our Southern Cross above us waves, long shale it bless the sacred graves, of those who died, but were not slaves, close the ranks, close the ranks." These relics adorned an unidentified woman who attended the emotional service which was held in the Washington College Chapel, where Lee spent his last years as President of said college. Unique and evocative mementos of the greatest of confederate leaders. Excellent condition, and attractively custom shadow box framed to 11"x 13". Accompanied by LOA from PSA/DNA.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
