Gen. Charles King: Fantastic Autograph Letter Signed to Colonel W. A. Graham, December 6, 1925. Charles King, who had been a lieutenant in the 5th Cavalry with Col. Wesley Merritt at the time of Custer's fight, was by this time a much published and highly respected author on the Old Army. Col. Graham sent the manuscript of his forthcoming book, The Story of the Little Bighorn, to King for comment. King responded graciously and gratefully. "Not one word would I change, if I were you, much less one opinion." And for Graham's evidence and even-handed treatment of both Custer and Reno, King wrote, "I am your debtor to an extent you can little realize." For admirers of King's work, this is rich content indeed.
