    Description

Frederick Benteen: A D. F. Barry Cabinet Photograph of the Controversial Little Big Horn Figure. Some critics believe Benteen held back in reinforcing Custer because of a longstanding grudge. However, given the number of warriors attacking Custer, it is likely that remaining in a defensible position saved his men from the same fate as Custer's battalion. Issued by Barry's West Superior, Wisconsin studio, it shows Benteen later in life in his general's uniform. Excellent condition. 4.25" x 6.375".
