    Description

Painting: Miniature Painting of Marshal Michel Ney, watercolor and gouache on paper, oval 2.75" x 3.5" (sight size), framed to an overall size of 5.25" x 6.25". The painting is signed "Biron" on the right side.

Michel Ney, 1st Duc d'Elchingen, 1st Prince de la Moskowa (1769 - 1815) was a French soldier and military commander during the French Revolutionary Wars and the Napoleonic Wars. He was one of the original 18 Marshals of France created by Napoleon I. Ney was executed by firing squad in Paris near the Luxembourg Garden in December 1815 - an event that deeply divided the French public. He refused to wear a blindfold and was allowed the right to give the order to fire, reportedly saying, "Soldiers, when I give the command to fire, fire straight at my heart. Wait for the order. It will be my last to you. ... I have fought a hundred battles for France, and not one against her... Soldiers Fire!"

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
